In 1986 I was a junior in high school and had the opportunity for a part time job at a real estate office, as a personal assistant.  I learned a lot about the business from the toughest boss I’ve ever had.  Ramona was demanding, and had a personal ethic and drive I had never seen before, or since. She encouraged me to obtain my license, and on my 18th birthday I drove to Olympia to pick it up in person.  Although I chose to go back to school and pursue other interests in my 20’s, I eventually made my way back to my first love.  In the years since, I have experienced many sides of this business.  When my kids were young, I spent time away from sales and instead honed my skills as a certified appraiser, eventually owning a business with my husband that did both appraisals and home inspections.  When I got back into real estate full time in 2010, I had to learn the complex maze of short sales and foreclosure properties in a depressed market.  I even spent time as a new construction site agent.  Over the years I have developed my skills as a negotiator, and have strived to stay on top of the ever changing marketing trends.  As a relocation specialist, I enjoy working with the corporate side of this business, and the reports needed to meet the requirements of different companies is reminiscent of the reports I used to complete for appraisals. 

I have come to see homeownership as the driving force of our economy.  But my passion for housing encompasses more than just ownership.  As a Windermere Foundation Representative, I am able to help distribute funds to non-profit organizations that help with homelessness and related issues in Snohomish County.  As a voting board member for our local Realtor association, I am able to take this to the next level, and I regularly attend both local and national Realtor events, including an annual trip to Olympia to discuss issues directly with our elected officials.   Next year I will be attending the annual Realtor Day on the Hill in Washington DC.

On a Personal Note

My husband and I have lived in Snohomish county most of our lives. We’ve been married since 1991, have three great kids, and enjoy camping, motorcycle riding, and spending time with our extended family and friends. We owned the third largest appraisal office in Snohomish county, with 10 appraisers, one inspector, and a full staff, and actually enjoyed working together. We have purchased both resale and new construction homes and have built home additions, completed “studs out” remodels, and are currently developing a 13 lot plat in the Arlington/Granite Falls area. Through this all, we have experienced many typical homeowner woes, and for the most part have loved every minute of it! We currently live in the Lake Stevens/Marysville area. We also have a rental house in Everett and firmly believe in real estate as an investment for the future.
